My Product Review Rules

I am lucky enough to have reached a point in my reputation as a writer where sometimes brands will reach out to me wanting to send me samples to review. More often than not, I want to give them a try — either because I am a genuine fan of their product or because they are a smaller brand and, if I like them, the exposure will genuinely do them good.

That being said, it is commonplace these days for many to take incentives from anyone and to blindly promote these products to everyone. I want to be clear that that is not, and never will be, what I am doing here. As such, I’m going to commit to the following:

  • I will only ever accept products that I believe are a good fit for myself and my audience

  • I will only review and publicize products that I truly enjoyed from start to finish and that I believe offer something new, different, or exceptional.

  • If I was gifted the product to review, I will state that clearly in the article.

  • If brands pursue further deals with me that include payment or affiliate links, I will include these disclaimers at the top of articles.

If this all feels like the bare minimum, you’re right. Even with the bar on the floor, however, we are often left with an icky feeling when we see folks post things that don’t seem 100% transparent, and so I wanted to put this up front.

I do have some cool stuff coming soon. I enjoy it, I’ll be sure to let you know.
